As an artist I always have an appetite for finding beautiful, pure materials. To do this, I regularly go on a trip and stay in inspiring places, such as Rome and Paris. If I find a nice gemstone, pearl or cameo, I always see right away what I can create with it. My hands start to itch and I must get to work and create. There are also days where, for example, by the continuing stream of new materials apparent chaos exists on my worktable out of which surprising combinations of colours and materials arise that inspire me again. Sometimes it’s the beautiful shape of the unpolished material itself, and I find it exciting to follow that form and catch it in a beautiful crochet of silver or gold, whether or not decorated with gemstones or pearls. It should reinforce each other and thus be a work of art and wonderful to wear.
